KeyMaestro Input Device Driver

Congratulations on your purchasing this multimedia keyboard. With a special MF button which toggles 12 function keys (F1-F12) to multimedia functions, this keyboard makes you to be the one-touch master of CD function, WWW, and application.

To use these multimedia keys, you have to install KeyMaestro input device driver.

Installation

You may refer to the following steps to install the "KeyMaestro Input Device Driver". 

  1. Insert the disk labeled 'KeyMaestro Input Device Driver' into your disk drive.
  2. Open File Explorer to find 'SetupKey.exe' from the disk.
  3. Double-click the 'SetupKey.exe'.
  4. Then follow the screen instruction to install the driver. The default install path is set to c:\Program files\KMaestro. You have the option to change the install path during setup.
  5. Setup will indicate when it has successfully completed. The driver is loaded when you see the KeyMaestro driver icon in the system tray (lower right corner of the screen). 

Uninstallation

Please note that you have to uninstall the driver first if you want to re-install the driver.

  1. Click the KeyMaestro driver icon icon.GIF (262 bytes) and select 'Exit' command to exit the driver program.
  2. Click 'Start' (on the left-bottom taskbar).
  3. Move cursor to 'Programs' in 'Start' menu.
  4. Move cursor again to 'KeyMaestro'.
  5. Select 'Uninstallation' icon2.gif (1079 bytes).
  6. Click 'Yes' to confirm you want to uninstall.

LED Indication

Num Lock:  The KeyMaestro driver icon will show as numlock.gif (892 bytes) when you press the num lock button.   
Caps Lock: The KeyMaestro driver icon will show as capslock.gif (893 bytes) when you press the caps lock button.
Scroll Lock: The KeyMaestro driver icon will show as scrolock.gif (892 bytes) when you press the scroll lock button.

Using MF Button and 12 Multimedia Function Keys

MF button is used to toggle the 12 function keys (F1-F12) to multimedia functions described below.  The MF button is on the right-top of the keyboard. When pressing the MF button, the MF on or MF off will display on the screen and you will know whether the MF function is activated or not.  In the meanwhile, the KeyMaestro driver icon will show the state of MF button as below:

: MF Off (F1-F12 keys work as pre-defined function)
: MF On (F1-F12 keys work as multimedia function)

Note: These keys are reprogrammable (except Volume up, Volume down and mute). They can be configured as a string, a combination key, a web site, an existing file, or a function the driver pre-defines for you. To reconfigure these keys, click the KeyMaestro icon on the taskbar to select Commands in the Menu.

F1 Volume down lowers the volume of your audio output to the speakers.
F2 Volume up raises the volume of your audio output to the speakers.
F3 Mute mutes the sound output. Repress this button to resume.
F4 Previous / Fast Backward skips backward to the previous file/track when pressing once quickly.

Note: The Fast Backward function only supports Microsoft CD Player Version 4.0 (under Windows NT4.0),  Microsoft CD Player Windows 95, Microsoft CD Player Windows 98 and  Microsoft CD Player Version 5.0 (under Windows 2000). 

F5 Play/Pause presses this button to play Audio CD or Video CD, or to pause it.  When it is paused, you may press the button again to resume it from the current position.
F6 Stop stops the playing.
F7 Next / Fast Forward skips forward to the next file/track when pressing once quickly.

Note: The Fast Forward function only supports Microsoft CD Player Version 4.0 (under Windows NT4.0),  Microsoft CD Player Windows 95, Microsoft CD Player Windows 98 and  Microsoft CD Player Version 5.0 (under Windows 2000). 

F8 Eject ejects/closes the CD tray.
F9 WWW
Home
launches to your Internet Browser application which should be pre-installed. If you have installed two browsers in your system,  the system default one will be opened. Mostly the system default is the later installed one. This key is reprogrammable and can be treated as the Shortcut key also. If you want to change the setting, click the KeyMaestro icon icon1.GIF (296 bytes) on the taskbar and select Configuration command. For more details, please refer to the section Commands in the Menu.
F10 E-mail opens your E-mail application. Same as WWW, this key is reprogrammable and can be treated as the Shortcut key also. If you want to change the setting, click the KeyMaestro icon icon1.GIF (296 bytes) on the taskbar and select Configuration command. For more details, please refer to the section Commands in the Menu.
F11 Shortcut 1 provides you to create an easy access to the documents and programs you use most often. The default setting for Shortcut button is to launch Windows accessory program 'Notepad'. If you want to change the setting, click the KeyMaestro icon icon1.GIF (296 bytes) on the taskbar and select Configuration command. For more details, please refer to the section Commands in the Menu.
F12 Shortcut 2 same as Shortcut 1.

Using Shortcut keys and Power Key

There are Shortcut 3, Shortcut 4 (if your keyboard is with these two keys) and Power keys on the top of keyboard and are always available to use, no matter whether the MF function is activated or not.

Note: Shortcut keys & Power Keys:  You keyboard could be only with Shortcut 1, Shortcut 2 or Sleep key on it.  The number of Shortcut keys and Power keys could be different; it depends on the keyboard  model.      

Shortcut 3 same as Shortcut 1.
Shortcut 4 same as Shortcut 1.
Power This button is to help you to control the system's power. Three function events (Sleep, Power off, Wake up) are included in this special unique button. Those function events are specified and performed by Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000 and Windows XP operating systems. So no vendor-specified driver is needed to use them.
'Sleep' puts your system to sleep (power-saving) mode. Any key will wake up your system and return to the previous working status.

P.S. Windows NT 4.0 does not support Sleep function. This key will be processed as Power Off  by KeyMaestro driver if the option is enabled.

'Power off' closes the operating system and powers down the system. 
'Wake up' wakes up your system and returns to the previous working status.

Commands in the Menu

If you right-click the KeyMaestro driver icon on the taskbar, a menu will pop up with the following commands.

Click on this command, a customization dialogue box will pop up with following functions. 

1.  Select a HotKey

This function contains the default function of a key. You can click on the "Display Label" to re-define the key functions. When you click it, a Configure Button box will appear.

*  Label

In the "Button Label" box, type the name of application that the button will launch, or any name that will help you remember the function of the button. This label will appear on screen each time you press the button.

 *  Functions

You can see a list of pre-defined functions and set one of it for the button.

*  Launch Application or Website

Type in the path to an often-used application or click the Browse button to select any file in your computer. If you want to attach a web page to the button, just simply type in the website address in the dialogue box.

* Combination Key

In many Windows application, there are many hot keys to execute some often used commands. Some of the hot keys are combined with two keys pressed simultaneously, and some are three. It is not easy to press and to remember those hot keys. Now you can define those complicated hot keys you always forgot. Any kind of combination is available. For example,
[Alt] + [F4] = close window,
[Ctrl] + [A] = select all.

* String

You may define the button as a string of texts which needs to be input often. The maximum characters are 500. Taking good advantages of this function can save much your text input time and makes your works more efficient.

2.  Enable Display Label

This command is to show or hide the OSD (On Screen Display). When the OSD is enabled, each time you press any one of the multimedia buttons, its function name (button label) will show on the right-bottom corner on the screen. The default of this function is enabled.

3. Enable Taskbar Icon

This command is to show or hide the taskbar driver icon. When the function is enabled, you can see a driver icon its function name (button label) will show on the right-bottom corner of the screen. If you want to reload it again, you can select Start => Program => Configure to launch it. The default of this function is enabled.

4. Enable Auto Play

This command is to show or hide the auto play function. When the function is enabled, the Microsoft Media Player will show on the screen after you press the “Play” key of the multimedia keys. For Winamp user, you can use the multimedia keys to control the Winamp function after you call out the Winamp and disable the Auto play function. The default of this function is enabled.

Select this command to exit from this driver program, but not to remove (uninstall). After you restart your system, the driver will be loaded again.

In case you have some troubles on installing other programs, we recommend you to exit this Input Device Driver firstly in order to have a cleaner system environment.
