KeyMaestro Input Device Driver

Congratulations on your purchasing this multimedia keyboard. With three power management buttons, this keyboard is energy-efficient to control the system's power. The better is, this keyboard puts you in the driver's seat with the special keys for multimedia and the Internet. Access the WWW Home, Search, or My Favorite at the touch of a key, control speaker volume and CD functions. Plus, save valuable mouseclicks with the dedicated Shortcut key to your most commonly used application. You'll discover your performance will be enhanced to a high level with this keyboard for multimedia and the Web.

To use these multimedia buttons, you have to install KeyMaestro multimedia keyboard driver first.

System Requirement

Installation

  1. Insert the disk labeled 'KeyMaestro Input Device Driver' into your disk drive.
  2. Open File Explorer to find 'Setup.exe' from the disk.
  3. Double-click the 'Setup.exe'.
  4. Then follow the screen instruction to install the driver. The default installed path is set to c:\KMaestro. You have the option to change the install path during setup.
  5. The driver is loaded when you see the driver icon show on the taskbar. 

Uninstallation

Please note that you have to uninstall the driver first if you want to re-install the driver.

  1. Click the KeyMaestro driver icon icon.GIF (262 bytes) and select 'Exit' command to exit the driver program.
  2. Click 'Start' (on the left-bottom taskbar).
  3. Move cursor to 'Program' in Start menu.
  4. Move cursor again to 'KeyMaestro'.
  5. Select 'Uninstall KeyMaestro' icon1.gif (1079 bytes).
  6. Click 'Yes' to confirm you want to uninstall.

Using Three Power Management Buttons

Your keyboard has the power management keys which are Power off, Sleep, and Wake up three keys. They are also can be called ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) keys.

Note:  There are other situations for the users of Windows NT 4.0, Windows 95 and Windows 98, please refer to the section ACPI Key Enabled for more detailed information.

Power off closes the operating system and powers down the system.

P.S. Although this key is a standard key under Windows 98, Windows 98 processes it as a Sleep key.

Sleep puts your system to sleep (power-saving) mode. Any key will wake up your system and return to the previous working status.

P.S. Windows NT 4.0 does not support Sleep function. This key will be processed as Power Off  by KeyMaestro driver if the option is enabled.

Wake up wakes up your system and returns to the previous working status.

Using Multimedia Buttons

There are a row of multimedia keys on the top of keyboard. The functions are described as below.

Note: These keys are reprogrammable (except Volume up, Volume down and Mute). They can be configured as a string, a combination key, a web site, an existing file, or a function the driver pre-defines for you. To reconfigure these keys, click the KeyMaestro icon on the taskbar to select Configuration 1 or Configuration 2 command.

My Favorite opens My Favorite folder for you to select your favorite web site.
WWW Home launches to your Internet Browser application which should be pre-installed. If you have installed two browsers in your system, the system default one will be opened. Mostly the system default is the later installed one.
WWW Search launches to your Internet Browser application and go to the Search Engine web site.
Shortcut provides you to create an easy access to the documents and programs you use most often. The default setting for Shortcut button is to launch Windows accessory program 'Notepad'.

Volume Control controls the volume to up or down of your audio output to the speakers.
Mute mutes the sound output. Repress this button to resume.
Previous / Fast Backward skips backward to the previous file/track or play backward fast when pressing once quickly.  But, if you are using 'Vendor Player', you have to press and hold the button and then the file/track will play backward fast (The 'Vendor Player' is only for Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows NT4.0 users).
Stop stops the playing.
Next / Fast Forward skips forward to the next file/track or play forward fast when pressing once quickly.   But, if you are using 'Vendor Player', you have to press and hold the button and then the file/track will play forward fast (The 'Vendor Player' is only for Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows NT4.0 users).
Eject ejects/loads the CD tray.
Play/Pause presses this button to play Audio CD or Video CD, or to pause it.  When it is paused, you may press the button again to resume it from the current position.

Commands in the Menu

If you click the KeyMaestro icon on the taskbar, a menu will pop up with the following options.

Note:  There are only 'OSD Enable', 'OSD Color', 'Help', 'About' and 'Exit' functions will affect when you are running under Windows 2000, Windows ME or Windows XP.

This command is to set the color of the OSD. You can select a favorite color to distinguish from the background.

These two commands are to change the settings for the Multimedia keys.

There are two Configuration windows, you can see the reprogrammable buttons lining there. The names in the first column are the fixed button names and the names in the second column are the Button Label showing the current settings.  Click on the button you wish to reconfigure. The Button Customization dialog box will appear.

  1. Select a type for this button.

You may define the button as a string of texts which needs to be input often. The maximum characters are 3000. Taking good advantages of this function can save much your text input time and makes your works more efficient.

If you want to attach a web page to the button, select 'Type in a web site address' and type in the URL of the page in the 'Address' field or click the Favorite button to select the web page from your favorites.

Type in the path to an often used application or click the Browse button to select any file on your computer.

You can click 'Select' button to see the list of pre-defined functions and set one of it for this button, or you can click the 'Default' button to set back to be the original pre-defined function.

  1. In the Button Label box on top of window, type the name of application that the button will launch, or any name that will help you remember the function of the button. This label will appear on screen each time you press the button.

  2. Click 'OK' to confirm your selection

Select this command to bring up this Help file you are viewing now.

Select this command to see the information of this KeyMaestro driver, including the version number and web site which you can update the driver.

Select this command to exit from this driver program, but not to remove (uninstall). After you restart your system, the driver will be loaded again.

If you really want to remove (uninstall) the driver, you have to exit this program first.  Please refer to the Uninstallation section above.

In case you have some troubles on installing other programs, we recommend you to exit this multimedia driver firstly in order to have a cleaner system environment.
